J Smooth News
April 24, 2012
Great news! Although it will still be some time before we will open Miraido, I am excited to announce that we will be offering Salsa lessons on Fridays at a separate venue: Illusions Nightclub in Palo Alto!
So starting this Friday April 27, we will offer Salsa lessons from 8:30pm - 10:00pm. I will be djing Bachata and Salsa music following the classes for the club.
We will offer Salsa lessons every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month (with the exception of May 11 due to a prior event arrangement). As usual refer to our Calendar on jsmoothsalsa.com to verify we are teaching.
I could really use your support on this! The club promoter and resident DJ have kindly ask that I start teaching at he club every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month. The club will be accommodating our classes by opening a bit early and hiring security. Help show that JSmoothSalsa has been a great help to the Salsa community by coming out to this Friday's lesson.
I'm sure everyone knows and misses the free Salsa Thursdays (I know I do) but please be aware that this is a Nightclub venue, not a studio with a low budget. Friday Salsa lessons will be a paid class. I have worked hard to put together a fair charge per person: $10 per student, $15 for couples. This is a huge savings during the club's usual cost of $15 per person regardless of couples! Oh! And this Friday will be a LIVE SALSA BAND!
Please show your support by coming out this Friday so that we make a good impression. I really don't want to waste the club's time and personnel if only a handful of people show up. First lesson will be this Friday April 27... no lessons on May 11... but we're back again at Illusions on April 24.
Here's a quick summary:
8:30pm - 10:00pm
Cost: $10 per person ($15 for couples)

It would mean A LOT if you could come out to this Friday's lessons at Illusions. The promoter has stressed on every phone call that we need to show the club that JSmoothSalsa is worth opening early for. The club has had a few dance instructors saying they could attract a big crowd to their lessons and always end up falling short of this. Needless to say, the club's owner and personnel really don't think highly of any dance instructors. Let's keep that from happening this Friday April 27.
I want to keep Salsa lessons at Illusions. This Friday will be a big step to making that happen. It will still take some time before I can re-start Miraido... in the meantime for those who have taken my lessons all these years... if I were to start asking for help this would be it!
Also, make sure you show up before 9:30pm. Although the lessons end at 10:00pm the club starts charging full price at 9:30pm. What are the fees again?
$10 each person (before 9:30pm)
$15 for couples (before 9:30pm)
SJSU students under 21 are welcome to come with prior arrangement. Please contact me by email prior to the evening. If you want to decide to come last minute, call or text me.
J Smooth Salsa
Hey JSmoothSalsa fans! Starting this April 27 we will offer Salsa lessons at Illusions Nightclub in Palo Alto, CA. Although Miraido is still closed for the time-being, you can pick the great past-time again with Jimmy and his partner Morgan every 2nd and 4th Friday from 8:30pm - 10pm.

Until we're back in business teaching and to keep your dancing skills sharpened... we will post a short lesson clip on a beginning salsa dance concept every Thursday... and every Tuesday we'll try to post a video of a new pattern!
